Hurricane season – starting from July 1st to November 30th

What to do?

  • Make a plan
  • Purchase canned or wrapped goods
  • Get a first-aid kit
  • Have containers with a lid to store water
  • Torches, portable radios, matches, candles, etc must be kept handy
  • Secure valuable documents
  • Spot the closest haven and comply with local authorities

 During the storm:

  • Take notice of the weather forecast issued by local authorities
  • Cut off the electric current main source and close manual valves of all gas tanks
  • Stay away from the beach and keep your distance from windy areas
  • Stay until local authorities allow you to come out and the danger is over.
  • Be cautious of the eye or inner core of the storm. The weather in the eye is relatively calm and cloud-free for a while and it’s best to stay home until winds become stronger and blow in the opposite direction.

After the storm:

  • Reenter the devastated area upon local authority authorization
  • If there are any seriously injured people, do not move or touch them and report them to the local authority
  • Avoid touching cable wires, and be careful with fences, houses and buildings that are at risk of collapsing.
